physically. The Academy Orientation Course is designed to give students
an edge by providing an insight to the program and the requirements for
being successful in the basic police academy program. This course

This is an online course self-paced and
can be completed over a 5-week period. There are eleven different
learning modules, one of which requires students to attend a workshop at
police academy on campus.
The other learning modules require students to read various academy
related publications, review websites, and submit written assignments
intended to help students assess their own readiness. Students
earn 1 unit of college credit for successfully completing this course.
The cost of this course is $27.00 including all college registration
fees.
Who Can Attend
This course is open to anyone eligible to
enroll in a college course including high school students. It is
ideal for everyone considering a career in law enforcement. The
academy staff highly recommends this course for ALL students who plan to
attend the basic police academy including those who will be sponsored by
a law enforcement agency. The key to being successful in the basic
police academy is preparation before the first day.
How To Register
Students can register for this course online without having to come to the college. Students who are not currently enrolled at Napa
Valley College or who have not taken classes at the college in the last
three years must complete an
admissions application. Once the admissions application is complete, students can register for the next academy orientation course through WebAdvisor. Students may also register for this
class in person at the College Office of Admissions and Records. Look for CJT85 in the course schedule.
Once your
registration has been processed, you will receive within 24 hours access to Blackboard, the course software. To log in to your class, go to http://www.napavalley.edu/online-ed. This page will explain how to determine your username and password as well as provide a link to access Blackboard. |
